SEVEN!

Well,  we had another Birthday in our house.  I'm feeling a bit guilty that I haven't posted about it sooner.
My Chase Man turned SEVEN.

I think I've done better with this birthday than those in the past.  I am usually either a weepy mess or in total denial, or a crazy mix of both.  But I took this one in stride.  Maybe I've toughened myself up over the years or maybe it's because my little guy has been acting so much like a big guy for so long that I've accepted the whole - he IS going to get older - thing.   Who knows.

So, it was a good day.  He was in school all day.  (Which seemed strange.  For the first time, he spent most of his BIG day away from us.  Sniff.)   He was beyond anxious to get to the present opening once he got home.

All he could talk about for the past month was a Kindle Fire.
I'm not even sure how he learned about a Fire, but it was the ONLY thing he wanted.
So, we caved and got it for him.  It's basically an iPad.  Just smaller.  It has access to the Internet.  I still have reservations about putting that thing in the hands of a 7 year old.  But with close supervision, we are going with it.

His big selling point was that he could READ on it.  And  we are holding him to it in order to earn gaming time.

He was thrilled with his new toy.  And, I have to admit, it is pretty cool!

Then we went out for a dinner celebration at our local Japanese grill.  Chase loves Chinese/Japanese food.  And they really get a kick out of the entertaining cooking display.

He even tried out the chopsticks.

The next day, we had a little party at our house with 8 of his friends.
There was a blizzard raging outside, but all of his friends still made it.

I took ONE measly photo during the party because Daddy ended up having to plow snow all night.  That left me, ALONE, with 10 kids.
I thought it would still be fine.  I mean, I could certainly handle 10 kids, right?!?

WRONG!  It was total and complete CHAOS.
But, we survived and I think the kids had a good time.  When they weren't trying to kill each other, that is.  (What is with little boys and the wrestling?!?!?)    We played all of our Minute to Win-it Games and had cake and ice-cream and presents, of course.  And when 8pm struck, I finally exhaled as all the parents collected their children, with (MIRACULOUSLY) little to no injuries!

Other than the Kindle Fire, he told me he wanted snow for his Birthday.  We got 7 inches on Friday night and he spent Saturday afternoon snowboarding with his Dad.  I think he had a PERFECT Birthday!    I sure hope he did anyway.

Happy Birthday Chase, what a great present, you will definitely have to keep him reading, so he can earn those game breaks!

Such great photos. I love the one of your little guy eating with chopsticks.. When I was a preschool teacher I was always amazing at how little boys (3&4 year olds) can make a gun out of any toy.. Boys will be boys... Happy Birthday to your little guy!!

Hugs, Linda
