I NEED AN INTERVENTION.....

..... of the sugar variety!

Seriously, I'm not kidding.

While, I really should be posting about our Christmas..... I feel that skipping over our cookie making day would be a disservice to all the cookie lovers out there.  You know who you are.  (I'm thinking that really everyone falls into this category, no?)

Just to clear the air before we get going with this post.  I am NOT a baker, I hardly ever pull out my Kitchen Aid Mixer.  And it's become crystal clear to me exactly WHY  I don't bake.   Because, er.... I have ZERO self control when it comes to yummy baked goodies.

My waist line is literally begging me to never bake again.

See all these guys?
75% of them went straight to my tummy.  Not inside my tummy.  Layered on the outside.   Gross, right?

Still, I think it was worth every ounce.  My mouth is watering just looking at those babies!

So, now that we cleared all that up, on with the details.
The yellow ones are the evil Pioneer Woman's Citrus Butter Cookies.  (Recipe here.)

Yes, I know that hers don't look look like a preschooler decorated them.  I mean, she is, after all, a pro.  I could blame it on the kids, but in all honesty, they didn't even help me decorate.  I botched them up all on my own.  It's just that I had soooo much extra icing and since it was so YUMMY, I couldn't waste it.  I kept dipping and drizzling until this mess happened.

Still, SUPER delicious, especially if you love lemon/limey stuff, which I do.
You'll need all these guys, and a zester.

And then, because I'm COMPLETELY crazy, we also made a giant batch our standard Sugar Cookies.  Because that is what we traditionally do.   And traditions must be upheld.  Especially at Christmas time.

We always, always, always make Grandma Pamma's sugar cookies.
Don't tell her, but we used a slightly different variation this time.

I found THIS RECIPE online at Annie's Eats, and it is very, very close to Grandma Pamma's.
She probably wouldn't even notice a difference!
But don't mention it, just in case.

Anyway, I just had this overwhelming NEED to share these two recipes with all my fellow Cookie FANATICS out there.  I would highly recommend making both of these  guys.  Not all in one day, though, because I was totally pooped by the time I was done.    But, it was worth it.  Just look at how cute our Santa cookie plate was.

Now, my Friends, go forth, and BAKE!
Me? I'm actually going to go forth and TREADMILL.  Blah.

Haha, had to chuckle at your Kitchen-aid comment my non-baking soul sista ;) I rarely pull mine out either for the same reason...If they bake it, I will eat it! UGH! I never even come CLOSE to the "yield" quantity each batch makes because I swear I eat half the BATTER before it even reaches the cookie sheets. That being said, your cookies DO look lovely. And I'm seriously oohing and ahhing over that last photo which looks like magical bokeh bubbles floating thru the air in the background. Lovely.

You know, with all of our traveling my kids and I didn't even get to make cookies together this year. BUT, you just gave me the idea to STILL Make cookies after Christmas because, WHY NOT? And they are still home for another week so, thanks for the idea!

These look so good - great job!

If it is a cookie or chocolate, I also have ZERO will power. Actually the peanut brittle my mil made was irresistible also. Trying to lose/maintain weight over the holidays is impossible.
At least you do the treadmill!

we did sugar cookies too... they ended up kinda hard. similar to hockey pucks really. perhaps there was too much kneading by certain little hands???

I love every single one of your shots and when your intervention is over, can you please come rescue me? I think I'm headed for spasms with all of the sugar I've consummed in the past 10 days.

**jaw hanging open**

Brooke, seriously. I wasn't one bit regretful of the fact that I hardly touched my camera over Xmas until I saw your gorgeous, AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL holiday photos!!!! Wahhhhhh!! Oh my goodness, I'm speechless!!! The light, the feel...the mood, oh they just scream Christmas!! I keep scrolling up and down, just soaking it all in, seriously. WOW.

LOVE THEM SO MUCH!!!!

And I'm totally going to try your sugar cookie recipe. (Well, I assume it's a sugar cookie recipe...the one with the little trees? I didn't click the link yet. We tried TWICE...and TWICE we ended up with dough stuck to everything. I had to scrape everything and throw it all away. It was unbelievable! I always say I'm not a baker either, but I seriously thought I could roll out some dough).

Seriously.... so in love with your holiday pics, you have no idea! Hope you have a great New Year's!!! XOXO
